I have consistently used the serpentine line to create movement, brushing alla prima color directly onto the fresh terracotta, then sgrafitto lines through the wet color to the clay beneath.  This expressive combination of traditional approaches from both painting and sculpture gives emphasis and spontaneity to the serpentine curves. The current series began in 2024, with incised lines on terracotta heads. The group is informed by the Wuxing energies, elements Wood, Fire, Water and Earth.
